Nick Heidfeld: Helmet Timeline
[return] See the changes in Nick's helmets through the years

For the 2009 season, Nick decided to have something new, and asked a helmet based on a snowboarding helmet he saw. The base color is now green, a colour no other driver is currently using.

For the first race of the year, Nick made a small alteration on his helmet, adding the german flag colours to the side of it, instead of the border, as it was on the launch. It remembers a lot the design he used for 2007 European GP.

Nick's new helmet for the 2008 season is definatelly based on the 2007 model, but you can easily notice some changes. The side of the helmet became black, as a continuation of the visor, even though the blue is still the predominant colour. Juni's fingerprint is not at the back anymore, probably because there should be two fingerprints now.

In the spanish Grand Prix, Nick wore a dark helmet. According to sources, it works on a new technology, so when the temperature is hotter than 27°C, it should go back to it's original colours. He gave up on it right on the next race, going back to it's first version.
"I didn't change the design of it, but it has a different varnishing. When it's cold, the helmet is black. Then you can only see the red and gold lines. If it gets hotter, because of the sun light or the heat inside the car, it becomes white again. I thought this idea of my helmet-designer was very intresting and decided to try it," Nick told Speed Magazine.

From the second race on, Nick added some new details in his helmet, including changing all it's right side, adding his signature to the top part of it, and some more red details. The white part of it became silver.

Nick's new helmet still brings germany flag colors, but has a touch of family on it: Juni's fingerprint on it's back part.
